Deep dark red colour, the bouquet of dark fruit and dried herbs and earth on the nose with hints of mocha and chocolate. The palate is full of soft dark fruit flavours when allowed to breathe, there is a natural earth character to the wine reminiscent of a Southern Rhone style blend.

Blackberry, and blackcurrant in highly concentrated amounts, dark plum, liquorice all provide an opulent yet not overpowering feel. Spicy vanillin cedar, subtle earthy tobacco character and a touch of pepper. Its an old school style of wine more in line with the 80's and early 90's style of winemaking before high alcohol wines became accepted with wonderful aged character even in its infancy.


Sourced from two vineyards one in the warmer Seppeltsfield region and the other in the cooler Angaston region from vines with an average age of 90 years. Fermented in small open top stainless steel with some whole berries, these fermenters ensure we maintain strong fruit flavour from skins and whole berries. Hand plunged two to four times daily for two weeks then transferred into 1 and 2-year-old American and French oak barrels for the remainder of ferment then spent 24 months in the same barrels to allow full flavour development with minimal topping and Sulphur additions before being bottled without fining or filtration. Drinking well now but if you are patient enough to hold off this will develop beautifully in the cellar and build the aged character which has been a hallmark of this wine.


This Shiraz Cabernet is best to drink now or will reward cellaring mid term.
