Normans Bin C207 - Riesling 2017

Pale straw with green hue. Lifted floral blossom, lemon, lime and mineral notes with some white peach characters. This is a textbook Clare Valley Riesling.

Intense, fresh, crisp and dry; delicate palate of zesty lemon and lime provide a mouth watering opening while crisp natural acidity and grape sugar provides the perfect combination.

Winemaking

Selected parcels of fruit were sourced from vineyards in the Clare Valley region of South Australia. The fruit was machine picked during the cool early hours of the morning which enabled us to select only the best fruit from the vineyards from this wonderful vintage. The fruit was then rapidly transported to the winery and immediately crushed, chilled and pressed, where the free run juice and pressings were separated. The juice is cold settled for 3-4 days, racked off solids and then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Post fermentation individual batches were blended to style then the finished parcels were carefully assessed, with only the finest chosen for the final blend prior to bottling.

Cellaring

Drinking beautifully now, but will cellar well for 3 or so years for those who like Riesling with a little age to develop more oily characters.

Normans Bin C207 - Riesling 2013

Pale lime green in colour with straw edges. Intense aromas of fresh limes, floral notes and flowers all feature on the alluring nose.

The palate shows formidable lime, grapefruit, and citrus flavours with fantastic fruit based sweetness supported by a natural acid backbone.

Winemaking

Riesling was again the highlight of the 2013 vintage in the Clare Valley from a variety point of view. Whilst vintage kicked off earlier than usual at the start of February. There were some warm then cooler spells which allowed for perfect flavour ripening whilst conditions were quite dry and helped develop the natural fruit acidity. After early morning picking and crushing prior to sunrise we used only the free run juice for our Riesling. Fermentation was over a couple of weeks, after cold stabilising filtering the wine was bottled to retain all those beautiful fruit flavours and natural grape acidity.
