2010 Barossa Shiraz
Colour
Deep red with a delicate purple hue
Bouquet
Dark berry fruits with earthy notes and well integrated oak.
Palate
Chunky old style with big, sweet cherry and blackberry aromas showing olive and licorice notes. Huge, sweet palate with layers of fruit, alcohol and tannins.
Winemaking
Sourced from premium vineyards in the heart of the Barossa between Nuriootpa and Tanunda the wine was fermented in small open top stainless steel fermenters to retain concentrated fruit flavours. To complete the fermentation process and maturation the wine went into oak barrique barrels for 12 months. The use of oak has allowed the characters to infiltrate the highly concentrated fruit flavour creating a well balanced yet complex tannin structure.
Cellaring
Drinking magnificently now, but will reward 7-10 years cellaring to develop more complexity.
