The palate has intense fresh lemon and lime flavours reflecting the bouquet, but also features grapefruit and a slight touch of cinnamon spice with a fresh touch of acidity to finish.
The 2013 vintage in the Clare Valley was perfect for the production of high quality Riesling. Vintage started a little earlier than normal in February when we felt the fruit had reached its optimum ripeness. The perfect conditions allowed for perfect flavour ripening whilst it was quite dry, this enabled the development of the natural fruit acidity. After early morning picking and crushing , we used only the free run juice for our Riesling. Fermentation was over a couple of weeks, and after cold stabilising/filtering, the wine was bottled to retain all those beautiful fruit flavours and natural grape acidity.
A fantastic wine to drink now whilst the fruit flavour prevails, although it will cellar under good conditions over the next few years and develop more complex characters.
