2010 Shiraz
Colour
Brick red with purple hues.
Bouquet
Ripe and sweet berry flavours of cherry and plum backed up by toasty vanilla oak.
Palate
This Shiraz displays blueberry, pimento and roasted almond flavours. It is full and vibrant with a great balance between the fruit flavours and textured oak. The wine is further enhanced by a persistant and mouth filling savoury tannin structure, which will leave you wanting more!
Winemaking
The grapes were sourced from vineyards in the southern reaches of South Australia from vines aged between twenty-three and thirty years of age. The individual parcels were selected and harvested in March 2010 then fermented separately to ensure that each parcel articulated the unique character of each vine. All ferments were left on skins for a minimum of 7 days. During the subsequent eighteen-month oak maturation period in French and American new and old oak each individual batch of barrels was racked and returned periodically, to seamlessly integrate the tannins into the wine and to ensure that minimal filtration and no fining was required prior to bottling.
Cellaring
Drinking magnificently now, but will reward 4-6 years cellaring.
